Zardari to reinstate CJ, Sharif calls off march

Sharif had led thousands of protestors through the streets of Lahore on Sunday in a massive show of strength, adding to the isolation of the Pakistan People's Party and its co-chairman, President Asif Ali Zardari . Gilani invited the PML-N to work with all other political forces for the implementation of the 'Charter of Democracy', a document signed by the PML-N and PPP in 2006, to strengthen democracy in the country.
Chaudhry will return to the post of Chief Justice over 16 months after he was sacked by Musharraf for not endorsing the emergency.

Chaudhry was appointed Chief Justice by Musharraf in May 2005. The independent-minded Chief Justice irked Musharraf after he initiated suo moto action against several of the former military regime's actions.
Gilani and Zardari discussed the prevailing political situation and agreed on restoring the deposed judges, during a meeting that lasted for over two hours late on Sunday night.

deadline to kill American

Pakistani kidnappers set deadline to kill American

An unknown militant group holding an American working for the United Nations in Pakistan has said it will kill the hostage, John Solecki, in four days if its demands are not met.

BLUF gave the latest deadline in a letter delivered to a local news agency in Quetta late.

The head of the office of the UNHCR in southwestern Baluchistan province, was kidnapped in the provincial capital of Quetta. 2 after gunmen ambushed his car and shot dead the driver.

The group attached a list of 1,109 names of people it said were missing and being held by Pakistani security agencies, and demanded their release.

This is not the first deadline Solecki's captors have given.

The BLUF had earlier demanded U.N. intervention to secure the release of 141 women it said were held in Pakistani torture cells, provide information about more than 6,000 missing persons, and resolve the issue of Baluch independence under the Geneva Convention.

Baluchistan, the largest but poorest of Pakistan's four provinces, lies on the border with Afghanistan. Separatist militants have fought a low-scale insurgency there for decades.

Mumbai attack was planned a year ago

Mumbai attack was planned a year ago

The Mumbai police's official synopsis of the chargesheet provided to the media clearly suggests that, "the success of the terrorist operation on 26/11 would simply not have been possible without the inputs and assistance provided by the arrested accused Fahim Ansari and Sabauddin." Both are accused of providing the maps and directions of locations in Mumbai to the terror masterminds in Pakistan.

The Mumbai police claim that after renting a room "he conducted elaborate reconnaissance of the iconic and important locations in Mumbai. For the purpose of communication, he procured under the assumed name of Pawasakar, a Reliance mobile number 9322504557. To camouflage his nefarious activities, he secured admission at Soft Pro Computer Education Council situated near the Mumbai Stock Exchange. This place is close to Badhwar Park."

The maps were important and that can't be denied because after off-loading eight of their colleagues at Badhwar Park, two terrorists Fahadullah and Abdul Rehman Chotta alias Sakib sailed further towards the Oberoi hotel in an ultramodern rubber dinghy. These two then landed near the hotel with their ammunition without making any mistake. In an absolutely unknown city, they were spot on.

Investigations further revealed that a map of important locations in Mumbai was found in the possession of the deceased terrorist Abu Ismail, which was prepared by Fahim Ansari.

The most disturbing fact has been that Fahim was in custody of the Indian police for long and was thoroughly interrogated by the Mumbai Anti-Terror Squad and the UP police. The Indian government or the police didn't act on the information he provided.

Maria repeatedly gave the same reply when asked anything about the "involvement of Indians" or about the involvement of any Pakistan government officer. He said, "Our investigation is going on."
